When a Sikh family from Moradabad headed by S. Kulwant Singh Chadha started a mini Sugar mill
in Moradabad District of Uttar Pradesh, the eldest son of the family namely Gurdeep Singh, Aka Ponty
Chadha (born on 22nd October 1957) was very young, but had a special business intellect which he learnt by
assisting his father in running the sugar mill. He was always planning to expand the business and within a
few years, he expanded it from Sugar Mills to film distribution and then paper manufacturing, breweries and
distilleries etc. The expansion of the business of this group which came to be known as Wave Group was so
sudden that the Chadha family became affluent in a few years. The Wave Group was at the peak involving so
many businesses and a number of flagship companies like Wave Infratech, Wave Cinemas, Wave Distilleries
and Breweries, The Delhi Waveriders, Film Distribution, Wave City, Wave City Center, Wave Estate, Wave
One, Wave Malls, and Wave Industries, when the tragic killing of Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeep
Singh on 17th November 2012 hit the family. By this time, S. Kulwant Singh had also expired.

Rajinder Singh Chadha (Akka Raja Chadha) the brother of Ponty Chadha then emerged as the Senior Most
member of the family to control various businesses of this group. He has very wisely handled the business
and family affairs and become a role-model for this business tycoon group of Northern India. He had
started his business career by operating a transport company at Delhi and Moradabad when he was still
pursuing his higher education. Very soon he established a paper mill and with hard work and commitment,
he became an affluent business person. He was with Gurdeep Singh Chadha (Ponty Chadha) when the Wave
Group made progress by leaps and bounds. He was instrumental in steering Wave’s growth story across
business portfolio of the group. Presently, as the Chairman of Wave Group, he is responsible for the group’s
strategic decision making along with corporate finance activities. He has wonderful leadership qualities
and a mental attitude for not giving up. For further expansion of the activities of the Group, he has recently
entered into a deal with Sh. Sunil Lalla MD Eros International and Sh. Parag Sanghvi for a Multifilm Joint
Production and Distribution. On Baisakhi day in 2016, S. Chadha was honoured with Punjabi Icon Award
at Matoshree Launge in Mumbai. S. Manpreet Singh Chadha, son of late S. Ponty Chadha, now having his
own business experience of more than 20 years, he as the Vice Chairman of this Group, is associating with
his uncle to take the Wave Group further by adding some more ventures, particularly into the real estate
industry. Manpreet’s progressive approach is driving the company in exciting new direction as he continues
to strengthen the management team within the organization. This icon Punjabi Sikh family is also known
for their philanthropic acts. They donate huge amounts for social and religious causes. Having a great love
and concern for their religion, they have donated profusely for various projects undertaken by premier
Gurdwara Committees at Amritsar and Delhi.
