Darshan Singh Kang


Darshan Singh Kang, a Canadian politician, presently member of parliament, was born in 1951 in India.
After studying at University of Indore, he migrated to Canada and started his profession as real state agent.
He entered Canadian politics in the year 2004 when he fought election for MLA as a liberal candidate, but
could not succeed. In 2008, he won the election and became member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta
for Calgary-McCall. He remained member from 2008 to 2015 as a representative of Alberta Liberal Party. In
June 2014, Kang was acclaimed as the Liberal Party’s candidate for the new Calgary Skyview federal riding in
the 2015 federal election. He was subsequently elected, defeating serving MP Devinder Shory. He and Kent
were the first federal Liberals elected from Calgary since Pat Mahoney in 1968. S. Kang has brought glory
to the Sikhs by winning the said seat in the Canadian Parliament. The story of his progress after continuous
struggle inspires all the people who have settled in Canada making it their adoptive country. The role model
with his wife Sharanjit Kaur lives in Chestermere, Alberta, Canada.
