Gurpreet Singh

Gurpreet Singh, an entrepreneur from Chandigarh is a well known name in the Sikh circles in India and abroad. He was born on 27th March, 1959 in the house of S. Anup Singh (Member Railway Board). His grandfather, S. Karnail Singh was the first Sikh Chairman of the Railway Board. Although, Gurpreet had his education at The Doon School, Dehradun and completed his Mechanical Engineering from Guru Nanak Engineering College, Punjab University in 1981, he preferred starting his own business rather than go for a Govt. job. However, for gaining experience he worked for two years with the Birla Group in Nigeria (Africa) from 1982-84. Subsequently, he started his own manufacturing business of rubber molded parts and became a leading supplier of OE rubber molded parts to various esteemed customers in the automotive sector and the Ministry of Defense. Although, he is a successful businessman, he is better known in the Sikh circles for his dedicated services to the community by associating himself with a host of Sikh organizations. He is presently Director of United Sikhs, India; Treasurer Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Chandigarh; Board member of Global Sikh Council; member of Advisory Board, Satnam Sarab Kalyan Trust, Chandigarh; Institute of Sikh Studies, Chandigarh and Executive Committee, International Sikh Confederation, Chandigarh. Through these National and International bodies he is connected with all kinds of Sikh issues which are presently needed to be discussed and settled at high platform like Sarbat Khalsa.
He is devoting considerable time and making earnest endeavour to involve the Sikh intelligentsia to play a more pro active role in the affairs of the community and unite Sikh organizations to propagate the Guru’s message/teachings. He is a gursikh in the true sense and has an unflinching faith in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He often quotes “Sikh is thought and Guru is the knowledge, which it has to imbibe.” He is such a role-model among the Sikhs that he is invited not only by the media but also by various Sikh organization in India and abroad for soliciting his views on crucial Sikh issues. His boldness in expressing such views with a command over the language (English, Hindi and Punjabi) shows his concern for his religion and co-religionists.
