Satnam Singh

The role of SALDEF in the American society, particularly for the Sikhs and other minorities has been emphasized time and again in the pages of this Directory. The persons actively associated with its activities have also been mentioned as role models for their contribution in their respective acts. One of these volunteers associated with SALDEF is S. Satnam Singh, presently Director of Govt. and Community Relations. Satnam graduated from Framingham State University in Masschusetts with degrees in Business administration and Philosoplhy. He joined SALDEF after volunteering with the organization, including trainings as part of the organisation’s Law Enforcement Partnership Program (LEPP) in the greater Boston area. He previously worked in the renewable energy sector, helping design and deliver solar photovoltaics across the US and Canada. Presently, he is leading SALDEF efforts to build stronger relationships in Congress and in coalition with civilrights organizations. He also co-ordinates the organisation’s DC internship and Sikh Lead Leadership programmes. He regularaly works with Govt. agencies, including DHS, FBI, Department of Education and others to address hate crimes, racial profiling and religious accommodation.
