Haribhajan Kaur Khalsa, renowned singer of Gurbani, was born in Mexico. The family moved to USA before she was 2 years old. She was just 8 years old, when her parents sent her to Miri Piri Academy Amritsar
to get education about Sikh religion. It was during her school days that she started taking keen interest
in Indian classical music and ragas. She learns music in Amritsar from Ustad Narender Singh Sandhu.
This training developed a love for Gurbani and then Haribhajan started singing Gurbani in her own style
which corresponds to the ancient musical style ending with a bland of east and west style. Singing Gurbani
has become passion for her and she has sung Gurbani Kirtan in various parts of India, Malaysia, Mexico,
Italy, USA and Canada. She wants to continue to travel around the world and share her devotion music
to touch the hearts of the devotees. In her words “Music is the deepest fulfillment in my life. It’s ‘my thing’
in the highest sense. There are no words for my love of music and singing, especially shabads.” This deep
love for Gurbani singing and ardent desired to spreaded the whole world makes Haribhajan a role-models
for others. She had made her website also for inspiring the people to listen to Gurbani. She is confident
that people will be inspired with her awesome to shabad and Gurbani Kirtan. She is highly grateful to her
spiritual teacher Yogi Harbhajan Singh Khalsa who proved to be a light for her soul. In her worlds “He
encourage me to relate to my soul, relate to the Guru, to travel and spread the Guru’s word through shabad
Kirtan. The ever smiling face of this great role-model is really doing a wonderful service by connecting the
people to the Guru’s word. She is happily married with S. Chand Singh Khalsa who has also originally a
Mexican. Since they were married on 6th June 2010 in new Mexico, the couple has become a role-model
Gurbani singing Jatha in which Chand Singh Khalsa plays on Guitar and provides inspiring company in
spreading the Guru’s teaching.
