Description
Ajmer Singh, a well known Sikh scholar, was born on 15.06.1948 at V.P.O. MandI Kalan, Distt. Bathinda,
Punjab. When he was doing his Electrical Engineering Course at Guru Nanak Engineering College,
Ludhiana, he could not complete the four year course as he got involved in the Naxalbary Movement. He left
the College in 1970, and made himself busy with that Movement. However, when the Government attacked
Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984, he strongly felt and his conscience moved him towards his community and he
started participating in Sikh struggle. After the decline of the Sikh Millitant Movement, he started analyzing
the Sikh Political struggle of the 20th Century in a systematic manner. Since then he started writing on Sikh
political issues in 1966. The five books written by him have made him a Political Historian of the present
times. It is the style and the content of these books which make him a Role Model Spokesperson about
Sikh struggle. Whereas he wrote about the role of Sikhs in Freedom struggle by writing about Gadri Babas,
“Gadri Babe Kaun San”, he also wrote about the loss of Sikh sovereignty (Kis bidh Ruli Patshai) and the
ideological incirclement of the Sikhs (Sikhan Di Sidhantak Gherabandi) ending with their politics during
the 20th century (Veehvin sadi the Sikh Rajneeti) covering thereby the 1984 un-anticipated catastrophe
