Description
Bhai Dya Singh is a world famous Gurbani singer and musician, now based in Melbourne, Australia.
He was born on 13th April 1950 in Raub, Pahang, Malaysia to Giani Harcharan Singh Ji Bassian and Sdn.
Harminder Kaur Ji. His father was also a Gurbani singer. He had his school education in a Muslim dominated
school, but there also he became popular for singing Muslim religious rendition. His love for music inherited
from his father was so deep that at the age of 15 he had started singing Punjabi and Hindi songs and also
Gurbani Shabad on radio Malaysia. He could also sing in Malay and Tamil languages. For his after school
education, he went to U.K. where he studied and worked as accountant. His popularity as a singer reached
here also and he often used to sing at major events. His range of singing further expanded and now he could
sing even ghazals, Qwalis and bhajans. In 19981 he migrated to Australia with his wife and daughter. Since
then he has been singing and gaining popularity all over the world. His Gurbani singing in his unique style of
combining East and West has become so popular that now he is considered as one of the top most Gurbani
singers in the world. For his group’s music, he often says that their mission is “Bringing Sikh Music to the
world and World music to the Sikhs”. His impact on the world music stage have been phenomenal. When he sings Gurbani in Punjabi, he also explains in English. Many of his Gurbani recordings have reached the
house of Gurbani lovers in all the countries. In fact, he had travelled the world creating and spreading music
passion and happiness. He is, undoubtedly a source of inspiration as he provide peace and harmomy by
touching the very core of heart of the people.
