Dr. Sukhpreet Singh Udoke is one of the most well known authors of present times. Although, he is a
Doctor by profession, he has become a well known writer on Sikh subjects, particularly the modern period
of Sikh history starting from 1980s. Some people treat his writing as the works of a fundamentalist, but
the same have been written after a good deal of research. Born on 8th April, Dr. Udoke had his schooling
from Chandigarh and Batala and Graduation from Chandigarh and Ludhiana. He obtained BHMS Post
Graduation from Amla Atta Uni Moscow in Medicinal Herbalism and Physiotherapy. His interest in Sikh
history has made him a role-model historian. His famous books include Ganj-e-Shaheedan, Tabhe Roas
Jagio, Khalsai Jaho Jalal, Att Da Antt, and Kujh Khat Babe Nanak De Naam. He is not only famous for his
books, but also for his lectures at different places in the world and many of the DVD’s of these lectures are
in wide circulation. In his books and lectures, his emphasis is that Sikhs are not Hindus but, a separation
nation with his own identity, principle and way of living. He always cautions against those forces including
RSS who, according to him are trying to harm the Sikh religion by distorting its history and teachings. Dr.
Udoke, known for his fearless attitude, bold speeches and frank writings has been honoured with various
awards by various organizations. The same include Allah Yaar Khan Yogi Award, Bhai Gurdas Award,
Sikh Chetna Award, Giani Ditt Singh Award and S. Karam Singh Historian Award 2012. This role-model
Gursikh travels all over the world for propagating and promoting Sikh religion, but lives in Amritsar.
