Giani Sahib Singh Ji


Giani Sahib Singh Ji of Shahbad Markanda is a renowned Sikh preacher of the present times. He was
born on 5th May 1941 in the house of S. Mela Singh and mata Iqbal Kaur at Village Bagawali, Ghadial, Distt.
Shekhupura (now in Pakistan). He got his religious education from Kalgidhar Missionary College. When he
made a vast study of Gurbani, he realized the concept of ‘ghat hi khojat Bhai’ meaning thereby that one has to
make the divine search with in and not outside. He himself setup a Gurmat Vidyalaya at Shahbad Markanda
for sharing his knowledge with the students of Gurmat gyan. During the last 40 years, he has been serving
through this institution as a Gurmat teacher and a large number of students have been imparted this divine
knowledge. In addition Giani ji has preformed Katha of various hymns of Gurbani covering all the concepts
of Gurbani.He has travelled extensively in various counties of the world and impressed the people with his
spiritual discourses.

It is not only his vast knowledge of Gurbani and other Sikh scriptures which makes his
Katha spell bound the listeners, but also his style of presentation coupled with grammatical directions and
illustrations from various sources including Bhai Gurdas Ji and Bhai Nand Lal Ji, which has made him one
of the leading Kathakars of the present times. He is frequently seen explaining and interpreting the divine
Hukamnama at Sri Manji Sahib, Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar and Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Delhi. He has also
obtained fame by doing Sahej Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Charhdikala Time TV channel. He has
received many honours and rewards at different platforms for his contribution in propagating Sikh religion
through his discourses. These include Sanman Patra by Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Gurmat Missionary College
and Giani Man Singh Ji Jhor Purskar by Prof. Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation Ludhiana. He is really a
great source of inspiration not only for the audience, listeners, but also many others youngsters who want
to adopt this noble profession of promoting and propagating the tenets and teachings of this great religion.
