Gurdwara Shahidganj Singh Singhania
This Gurdwara is situated opposite the Gurdwara Shahidganj Bhai Taru Singh
in Lahore. The history records that about two and a half lakhs Sikh families, men
women and children of all ages were martyred at this site. These people were
martyred as they refused to give up their religion. The atrocities were committed
by Mir Mannu, the Governor of Lahore at that time, particularly on women before
whose eyes their children were killed and torn into pieces. Mannu had issued
orders that whosoever will bring a Sikh will get a ten rupee award for one Sikh
head. Hundreds of Sikhs were brought daily to Lahore where on their refusal to
convert to Islam they were immediately beheaded. This Gurdwara at this site has
immortalized all those martyrs of the 18th Century.
