Jaspal Singh, educationist and socal activist, was born on 12.03.1945 at Jeranwala (now in Pakistan)
in the house of Late Sdn. JasbirKaur and Late S. Mehtab Singh. His father late S. Mehtab Singh was a
highly respected and a prominent person of the Sikh community. He was an able entrepreneur, a devoted
educationist and a great Philanthropist. After partition of the Country, he started the Hindustan Refrigeration
Group. Jaspal Singh after completing his education inherited this business and with his hard work raised
it to greater heights. Presently, it is having manufacturing units at NOIDA and in Chennai, in the South of
India. He has been the President of All India Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association. Further,
he is a member of varios chamber of Commerce namely PHD Chamber, Indo-American Chamber of
Commerce, Indo German Chamber of Commerce and the Indo Arab Chamber of Commerce and Heating
Airconditioning& Refrigeration Distributors International, USA. He is a role mode not merely because of
his prestigious status. In his line of business, but also because of the various Educational and social activities
with with he is actively associated.
The family promoted various Schools, including the Guru Harkishan Public School in New Delhi and in
1969 the Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary Schools were established at Mussoorie. The Schools are residential and
are spread over in two separate campuses for boys and girls. They also run a Guru Nanak BalVidyaMandir
and which is essential for the class IV staff children, as well as, for the children of the surrounding villages.
He has also setup the first community Radio Station of Uttrakhand (Radio Khushi) 90.4 FM. The family promoted the setting up of an Engineering College (Diploma & Degrees) Guru
TegBahadurKhalsa Institute of business & Technology at Malout (Punjab). The family also set up the Guru
Nanak Sukhshala at New Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi which is a home for the aged. He is also the Director –
Asia of United Sikhs, a non-profit, Non governmental human development organisaiton, based in London
& USA AND INVOLVED IN GLOBAL ACTIVITIES OF THE Sikh Diaspora. He is also associated with
the Vimhans Hospital in New Delhi which is a speciality hospital in the field of Neuroscience’s. The family
was deeply involved in the rehabilitation of the displaced and affected people in the unfortunate 1984 riots
and set up the Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council. He was also the Chairman of the GurmatParchar Trust,
New Delhi and is promoting the spirit of Parchar and JeewanJanch, and also a non-profit organization,
LIVING TREASURE. He is also the President of the Delhi Chapter of CHIEF KHALSA DIWAN, Amritsar
and has been instrumental in the setting up of an OPD and operation theatre in Nehru Nagar, New Delhi.
He is also a member of the Prabandhak Committee of Takhat Sri Harimander Sahib Ji, Patna Sahib and the
Chairperson of GAD (Guru ArjanDev School), GunianaMandi, Distt. Bhatinda.
