Khadoor Sahib

Description

Guru Angad Dev Ji shifted from his birth place to Khadoor Sahib, which ultimately became his preaching
centre. Guru Amar Das Ji had established a new town, Goindwal Sahib, which was the centre of his preaching
activities. Khadoor Sahib is now in Taran Taaran District (earlier, it was Amritsar District) and is considered
as one of the holiest places as it was visited by 8 Gurus at different points of time. Moreover, it was here only
that Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji developed Gurmukhi Lipi (script) and got written a biography of Guru Nanak
Dev Ji (as is believed) known as Bhai Balewali Janam Sakhi. Further, Guru Angad Dev ji spent his entire life
at this place and the coronation of Guru Amar Das Ji was also made
here at the hands of Baba Budda Ji. There are some other Gurdwaras
near around like Khooh Bibi Amro Ji and Gurdwara Tharah Sahib
where Guru Amar Das ji used to sit and meditate. The Gurdwara Sri
Darbar Sahib (Angitha Sahib) is the place where Guru Amardas Ji had
fallen down after hitting a stake while bringing a pitcher of water from
Goindwal Sahib. Gurdwara Mall Akhara Sahib is the place where
Guru Ji held religious gatherings, discourses, and promoted Langar
Tradition. The city of Khadoor Sahib came into prominence when
the 500th birth centenary of Guru Angad Dev Ji was celebrated on
a large scale in 2004 and a good number of projects were stated for
promoting Sikh religion under the supervision of Baba Sewa Singh Ji.
These projects will find a mention at appropriate places.
