Kuldeep Singh is that Music Director of Hindi films, who, because of his egoless gentle nature could not
become highly known among the people. However, he is a versatile personality who deserves to be called
a Sikh role model because by remaining in Sikhi saroop, he has not only given music for a number of films
like Saath-Saath (1982) and Ankush (1986) but has also composed immortal ghazals like ‘Tum Ko Dekha
To Yeh Khayal Aaya’ and songs like ‘Itni Shakti Hame Dena Daata’. Above all, the great lyricist and music
composer has given training to his son Jaswinder Singh, who has emerged as an outstanding Ghazal singer
of the present times. It also need to be mentioned for this role model Sikh that he was honored with the
Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 2009 for music, for theatre in Allied Theatre Arts category.
