Mohinder Singh Grewal

Mohinder Singh Grewal is one of the few educated and prospours farmers of Punjab, India. He was in the news in August 2016 when he was selected as the “First PAU Fellow Farmer” by the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) to educate the farmers and the students through lectures in extension programmes like trainings. This progressive famer has 53 years of farming experience. His achievements as an agriculturalist have made him a role model farmer for all the Indians. He has produced 42 crops till date on 4.8. hectares of land. He has acquired trainings in hybrid seed production from PAU, modern technology and agronomic practices for intensive growth of vegetables from scientists of Israel, and in poultry, piggery and beekeeping from various sources. S. Grewal has also been associated with various agricultural bodies of State and National standing. He has served at National level as Member of Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices, Government of India; Member of Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow; Member of Seed Act Sub Committee, Government of India; and Member of Advisory Committee, Prasar Bharti, Jalandhar, Punjab. At the state level, he has served as Member of Governing Board, Punjab State Seed Certification Authority; PAU Farmers’ Advisory Committee; and PAU Publication Committee. S. Singh, at present, is a Member of Agriculture and Horticulture Committee, PAU; and Member of Governing Board, Agricultural Technology Management Agency. He is also the Founder and Charter President of Punjab Farmers’ Club, PAU. Widely travelled as a scientific farmer and a dalegation member he has delivered several seminars in India and forgien countries like USA, Canada, Mexico, Thailand, England and Pakistan. He has also authored several books on various aspects of agriculture. In view of his contribution to agricultural, he has received five international, seven national and 16 state honours.
