Yateem Khana Gurdwara Sahib
There is another non historical Gurdwara in
Amritsar having a historical background. This Gurdwara is situated in the Central
Khalsa Orphanage, at Shahid Udham Singh Chowk (Putli Ghar), Amritsar. The
magnificent building of the Gurdwara is central point in the orphanage as it is
compulsory for all the students studying in Shahid Udham Singh Memorial High
School to join in morning and evening Nitnem, Kirtan and Ardas. In addition,
the Gurmat College Students, the blind trainees and others who live in the
hostel in the premises of the orphanage also visit it every day. Significant days
in Sikh history are commemorated with faith and fervour. There is a Simran
Kendra constructed behind the Gurdwara used for Gurbani Santhya classes
for the students. The outside public also visits the Gurdwara and uses it for their
social programmes like Anand Karaj and bereavements. There is a Langar hall,
but it is mainly for the students who reside in Guru Gobind Singh Bal Bhawan or
the incumbents of the Ashram. The management committee of the Gurdwara
is headed by S. Sarabjeet Singh (9814259677).
