Bhai Sahib Satpal Singh Khalsa was born to S. Malik Singh Kohli and Sardarni Rajinder Kaur on
01.02.1956 in Madras (Now Chennai). He had his education in Delhi and completed his graduation from
St. Stephen College, Delhi. As a student, he was an all rounder, a brilliant student, a sports person of hockey,
table-tennis and track sports, a NCC Cadet and an active participant in debates and declamations. After
shifting to U.S.A. in 1978, he studied accounting, marketing and other business courses. He started his
business career as a partner with GRD Enterprises, a marketing company in Los Angeles. Here he expanded
business into various fields such as travel agency, school and office supplies, oriental carpet imports, check
cashing, advertising business, beauty products and international trading business. In 1986, Bhai Sahib
moved to Montreal and Toronto, Canada to start a candy manufacturing and distribution business. Later
he started Real Estate business by the name SPI Real Estate International which represented various real
estate developers from India such as Ansals, Unitech, DLF, Raheja and several othr regional developers
from South India in USA. Bhai Sahib also expanded the real estate business to Las Vegas, Nevada where
he marketed Las Vegas properties and developments along with Pacific Group of Companies. He has also
developed various real estate projects in India. He also owns a fine dining Indian Restaurant in Las Vagas
at the Rio Hotel and Casino.
Addition to being a successful businessman, he is known more as a Sikh preacher. Coming into contact
with the family of Yogi Harbhajan Singh, he associated himself in Dharam Parchar in a big way. He got
married in July 1978 to Yogi Ji’s daughter Kamaljeet Kaur. He became member at 3HO Foundation, Guru
Ramdass Sikh Mission of America and Ambassador of Sikh Dharma. Many programmes were organized
under his supervision and guidance. For example, when GRD Mission celebrated the 3rd Centenary of the
installation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, a Shabad Guru Seminar was organized under his guidance. Whenever,
there have been important celebrations in India, he visited as an Ambassador of GRD Sikh Mission. For
example, where 300th Centenary celebration of Gur Gaddi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was held at Takhat Sri
Hazoor Sahib, he visited and attended the celebrations. Even recently, when an International Sikh Conclave
was organized by Bihar Government for starting the 350th Avtar Purab Celebrations of Sri Guru Gobind
Singh at Patna Sahib, Bhai Sahib participated in the programmes. His other services for promotion of
Sikh religion include his successful lobbying to make the U.S. Congress to condemn the searching of the
turbans of the Sikhs on the Airport in pretext to the security checks. It is in view of his dedicated services
that he was given the title of Bhai Sahib at Takhat Sri Patna Sahib. He was also honored with Knighthood
in 2007 for services to Sikhism. Further, he received the Robe of Honor (Chola Sahib) at Sri Hazoor Sahib.
Some other honors received by him include NRI Gold Medal from the British High Commission in India,
Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Shelley Berkley for his Diligent efforts in Support of
the Advancement and recognition of Asian Americans through personal dedication and Philanthropy
and certificate of commendation from Senator Harry Reid for his dedication and hard work to the Asian
