Dr. Simranjeet Singh

Dr. Simranjeet Singh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Religion at Trinity University in U.S.A. He knows many languages and holds a PhD from Columbia University. With his rich knowledge of comparative religions, the Sikh coalition took him as the Senior Religion Fellow in 2013 and since then he is performing his duties in an excellent manner. His academic expertise is on history and literature of religious communities in South Asia and he has taught at Columbia and Trinity Universities on Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic and Sikh tradition. His dissertation centers around Puratan Janam Sakhi, which is one of the earliest sources information on Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He is a prolific writer who has contributed over 50 opinion pieces to News Outlets like the Newyork Times, The Washington Post and The Guardian. He frequently offers his perspectives to Television, Radio and Print Media.He regularly speaks on a variety of topics related to diversity, inclusion, civil rights, religion and hate violence.
His gift of gab has attracted a large number of audiences at different public venues like the White House, Pentagon and Educational Institutions like Princeton University and Dartmouth College. Whenever there has been a hate crime against any Minority, particularly the Sikhs, he raised his voice and wrote and spoke against the same to make the people aware of the factual position. For example, recently when the Police started investigating a Sikh Musician, S. Neelamjit Singh Dhillon merely because somebody had reported that he was looking suspicious when he was eating lunch at a Restaurant in Orlando, Florida, he circulated the story and the innocent Sikh was saved. Similarly, when, the name of a Sikh was taken in the Nice Truck Terror Attack, he was one of those to make it clear that the Canadian Sikh named therein was in Canada at that time and not in France as alleged. S. Simranjeet Singh is in fact a crusader against any kind of violation of Human Rights and the hate crimes committed against the American Sikhs. Whenever he gets an opportunity, he briefs the people regarding Sikh identity, values and traditions. This great role model for the Sikhs is also known as a Marathon Runner. Considering all his qualities and impressive overall personality, he was recently selected as one of the pillars of characters in School District in San and Antonio, Texas. He is currently living with his wife and daughter in Manhattan, Newyork where his wife Dr. Gunisha Kaur, teaches and works as an Anesthesiologist specializing in Global Health at Weill Cornel Medical College.
