S. Satinder Singh Chawla

S. Satinder Singh Chawla, born and brought up in Sagar (M.P.) in house of Sdn. Pritam Kaur and S. Balwant Singh Chawla, is presently a well known filmmaker and an artist. After serving Punjab and Sind Bank for 25 years, he moved to Melbourne (Australia) in 2012. He gave at Melbourne Airport his services in volunteering customer care program. When he formed a ‘Land Mark Community Sports Club’ in 2016 to satisfy his love for the sports, he got affiliated with Badminton Victoria as a coach. While performing his duties in a number of coaching and training sessions, he not only won appreciations, but also two titles in the age group of 55 plus each in Sikh Games in Sydney 2017 and Sikh Games in Melbourne 2018. His constant desire to learn took him to the field of acting when he got a chance to act in his own first short film made by him. He got further chances to play character roles in movies like ‘The Hidden Truth’ and a Punjab movie ‘Big Daddy’. He was awarded the best actor award in ‘Virasat Punjabi Film Festival – Melbourne’ for the short movie ‘Haloona’ (which was also award as the best short movie). His other prestigious awards include that of the supporting actor for the silent movie ‘Karma’ and second prize in the Sikh short International Film Festival Australia. The Hindi feature film ‘Foreign Flame’ and ‘Love in Melbourne’ (to be released in the year 2022-23) are other such movies where his performance has been highly appreciated. S. Chawla has also acted in short movies and video albums with renowned actors and singers. He has made several short movies with a message on spirituality, environment and teachings of the Gurus. The short movies like ‘Parivartan Ek Soch’, ‘Chhalia’ and ‘Maa Sadke’ are his other well known movies. ‘Maa Sadke’, a Punjabi movie is the first movie from Australia premiered world-wide on PTC channel which also one ‘best emotional scene award’ in Digital PTC Award Night 2022. In short, he has made a name for himself in the Australian Film Industry by doing around 90+ projects, 8 feature films, 40 short movies and by acting in a number of movies and albums with more than 15 notable directors in Melbourne and Sydney. His contribution in promoting Sikh religious values is also significant as he has been the Badminton Coordinator of Sikh Games of 2019 in Melbourne and AFL multicultural Community Ambassador four times in a row. Further, he has elicited attention and appreciation for being Community Ambassador in commonwealth Games Gold Cost and Ambassador Sudhirman Badminton Tournament Gold Cost. He is indeed a source of inspiration for all the persons living with Sikh identity who want to make a name in the field of sport as well as meaningful music and film world. That he is highly active during his retire life also makes him all the more a real role model in this regard.
