Dr. Juss Kaur

Description

Dr. Juss Kaur is a great artist with a unique concept of her artistic creations. She was born in Kenya. In her early teens, she moved with her family to Surrey, England, where she had her school education. Right from that period, she had an interest in painting, and gradually, this interest became a habit and then a passion. She started with portraits of the spiritual masters like Bhai Veer Singh and Prof. Puran Singh. When she shifted to Montreal for her higher education, her passion for painting was combined with her spiritual leanings. After her marriage she was encouraged to go ahead with her art. In the mean time she taught for a number of years, fulfilled her dream and got a doctorate and then perfected her artistic spirit and style. Although, she is a scholar, a dancer and also a great painter, her uniqueness is the reflective mantra which she has merged with her creations. This mantra is ‘Vaheguru’. Each of her paintings contains the Sikh Mantra – vwhigUru (Vaheguru), pronounced “Vah-hay-guroo written hundreds of times.” Vah means infinite, hay means Thou, and Guru means the Higher Self (the Divine Teacher within you). She has clarified her stand in creating this kind of art form as “My ultimate goal is to hint at the illusionary nature of our world, while at the same time subtly implying that the universal spirit surrounds us, I hope to show that there is a divine presence in all creation.” Her feeling and expression of the divine presence in her artistic creations make her unique and a role model in that regard.
