Nindy Kaur

Description

Nindy Kaur, a British Indian singer, rapper, song writer and music producer, was born on 8th January 1975 at Brimingam UK. Nindy began singing at the age of 10. Raised in the UK and surrounded by the beats and rhythms of Birmingham’s Bhangra bands, she grew up as a child who would save her lunch money to buy every single Bhangra album upon release. Nindy has self-taught herself the art of singing and has spent years developing her vocal skills in both Punjabi and Hindi. Her main goal as an artist is to never forget where she has come from and be true to her culture and reflect that in her music. She started her career in 2004 when she toured to United States with Bhangra duo Shezad Roy and Sukhbir. Nindy then joined Birmingham-based band RDB. RDB is a band which was initially formed by three British Sikh brothers in 1997, whose style blended western genres with traditional Punjabi beats and vocals. Nindy Kaur as a part of RDB became highly active. Nindy’s debut release was “Aja Sajana” which was featured on the album Danger 3 by Untouchables Records. She followed that hit with “Gur Nalo Ishq” and “Gidha Pao,” which were both featured on DJH’s debut album. In 2008, Nindy and RDB recorded and performed in the music video for Aftab Shivadasani’s film “Aloo Chaat.” She was also featured in Akshay Kumar’s film Kambaqt Ishq which was released in mid 2009. In the meantime she married one of the RDB group of British Sikhs, named as Manj and the couple then separated themselves from the RDB group. Their contribution is the popularizing of Bhangra beats in Europe. Although now they are separate from the RDB group, the group as a whole has earned a great name and thus constitutes a role-model group in the respective sphere.
