Bardish Chagger

Bardish Chagger was born on 06.04.1980 in Waterloo in Canada. Her parents had immigrated to Waterloo from India in 1970s, and her father Gurminder Gogi Chagger had become a Liberal Party supporter and admirer. Thus, Bardish Chagger had seen the politics right from her childhood. However, her main interest in politics started after she graduated in Science from the University of Waterloo, she became an Executive Assistant to Telegdi, who represented Waterloo in the house of commons from Liberal Party from 1983-2008. She volunteered for Justin Trudeau’s 2013 Party leadership bid, and subsequently became Liberal Party’s candidate for 2015 elections. She won the election from newly re-constituted Waterloo riding and was made the Minister of Small Business and Tourism in the present cabinet of Justin Trudeau. The fact that she is successfully handling her ministries has made her popular all over. She is a Sikh lady and takes keen interest in Sikh religious affairs and activities. The way she managed the Baisakhi celebration occasion in the Parliament in 2016 made her all the more close to the hearts of all the Punjabis World over. This role model women with all the qualities of a Gursikh type human being made us proud once again when on August 19, 2016, she was sworn in as leader of the Government in the House of Commons replacing Dominic Leblanc in the position.
