Randeep Kaur Kabbaddi

Description

Randeep Kaur Kabbaddi has been one of the most popular sports in Punjab. There was a time when Kabbaddi was played in almost every Village of Punjab. Gradually, when other sports, particularly Cricket became popular, many players became interested in those games and Kabbaddi became less important. However, even today, when the Punjab Govt. has started international competitions for this game, there are many meritorious Kabbaddi players from Punjab, particularly from Sikh families. It is interesting to note that in this state of Punjab, where it is believed that girls are not treated equal to boys, there are Sikh families who have trained their girls for different games, particularly Kabbaddi. This becomes evident from the fact that in this year when Sixth World Cup Kabbaddi was organized at Jalalabad, the Women Team which emerged as the Champion, had many girls from the Sikh families as Sukhvinder Kaur, Harvinder Kaur, Mandeep Kaur Chhena and Randeep Kaur. There were Sikh girls even in other teams also. The Indian Team played so well that the entire team set new standards of excellence. However, Randeep Kaur can be distinguished as a Role model as she proved to be the best stopper. She was born in Gurdaspur in the house of S. Hardeep Singh and Veer Kaur. It was a family of Kabbaddi players and as such Randeep developed interest in this sport. She got her school education from Klaswala Sr. Secondary School, Quadian, Punjab. When she was in tenth Class, she participated in 800 meter race for first time and in the next two years became a player of National Level. While doing graduation from S.M. College, Dina Nagar, her coaches Nirmal Singh and Mukhvinder Singh motivated her to play National Style Kabaddi. She participated in State Level Competitions and in 2008 became Captain of Punjab Tam in National Style Kabbaddi. She completed her education with Post Graduation Degrees in Punjabi and History. During these years, she took part in National events and while playing in these events at Kerala, she won Bronze Medal for Punjab. She also won Gold Medals three times in Beach Asian Championships. She has also played in Punjabi style (Diare Wali) Kabbadi and won medals in that. When World Cup was held in 2013, she was a part of the Indian National Team. In 2016, when Indian eves defeated U.S.A. by 45-10, she became the best stopper by securing 6 points. This role model Kabbaddi player is highly educated and as such was given a job in Punjab Police as Constable in 2011. Presently, she is working as A.S.I. She has still high hopes to win laurels in the two styles of the Kabbaddi Game at International level. We pray to God that she should fulfil her mission and bring glory for her Country and also for the Sikh Community in particular.
