Dr. Mimpal Singh became a role-model Doctor for all the Sikhs in the world when he became the first Sikh Doctor of Pakistan. He holds various degrees like MBBS, RMP, DCH, MCPS, MD and PGD Nutrication. In DCH (Diploma in Child Health) exam conducted by the Service Institute of Medical Science, he had got the first position in the entire country. Dr. Mimpal Singh is working as Consultant Pediatrician; Neonatologist (Child Specialist) and Registrar Peads Medical Ward at Mayo Hospital in Lahore. He is also running his Private Clinic under the Name ‘Sardarji Child Health Clinic’ in the vicinity of Shahbad Lahore. He is very popular among the people and he gives this credit to being a Sikh. According to him, people of his community can comfortably interact with all the communities and their sweet nature and friendly spirit make them popular. According to him, he was the only Sikh student throughout his career up to university, but despite the Muslim majority, he was the most favorite to all teacher and being a prominent and hardworking student, was selected as a Class Representative. Again, being the only Sikh Doctor in entire hospital, he got maximum attention and popularity. He loves his country Pakistan and admits that even minorities like Sikhs are getting an opportunity for higher studies. That is why a number of Sikhs have entered important sectors like medical, trade, police, army and politics. All these trendsetters from Sikh youth are achieving milestone on the path of their progress. They are not only the good citizen of Pakistan, but also ambassadors of their Sikh nation. Thus we can say that Dr. Mimpal Singh will inspire many other Sikhs to rise high even in Pakistan, although the number of Sikhs there is very small. The fact that another Sikh S. Joginder Singh belonging to Nankana Sahib has got his MBBS degree during this year from Fatima Memorial College of Medicine, Lahore proves that Sikhs like Dr. Mimpal Singh and Dr. Joginder Singh are really role-models.
