Amrik Singh Ahluwalia

Amrik Singh Ahluwalia is a business leader of Peel area (Toronto) in Canada. He has Masters in Engineering from Carleton University and an MBA (Dean’s List) from McMaster University. He had an extensive background in manufacturing and petro chemicals. He retired from Shell Canada as General Manager after working in different capacities in projects, strategy and creating new opportunities for 29 years. He was appointed by the provincial Government to the regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board on 9th February 2011 and was reappointed for the second term on 16 April 2014. He came to lime light in January 2016 when the Board unanimously elected him chair. After becoming Chairperson of the Peel Police Services Board, he immediately started his plan of action realizing his responsibilities for Canada’s third largest Municipal Police Force. The Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board is responsible for the provision of Police services in the Region of Peel. In consultation with the chief of police, it establishes the general policing priorities for the Regional Municipality of Peel. The board is responsible for the police budget, oversees the actions of the chief of police, and is the employer for the members of the police service. S. Ahluwalia has bold plan to make Peel Police more friendly and trained in culture sensitivity. He is a supporter of protecting the interest of the minority. S. Ahluwalia with best of his intention and efforts to make the police the best in Canada may prove a role-model in this regard. As a Sikh also, he takes keen interest in Sikh affairs and activities. He has organized several youth camps. He has served as President of Sikh Society Calgary and was a founding Director of Khalsa Credit Union, Calgary. He volunteers with Seva Food Bank Mississauga. With all these activities, S. Ahluwalia has already created a feeling of pride in the mind of all the people of that area, Sikhs in particular. He lives in Brampton with his wife Inderbir Kaur.
