Amrita Kaur Bamrah

Amrita Kaur Bamrah, an American Sikh youth, has always been eager to promote the Sikh community in different ways. Even, as a student she promoted awareness of the Sikh community by organizing large-scale langars on both of her collegiate campuses, reaching a total of over 7,000 people. A former participant of the SikhLEAD program, she was instrumental in organizing the first ever Langar on the Hill. Amrita completed a B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Masters in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago. She managed Governemental relation with elected officials in Washington D.C. and with this experience of working with the White House, she joined SALDEF with a view to take up the issue of Asian-Americans and Pacific Icelander with the Department of justice, community, relations, service and others. She is policy associate and Sikh lead coordinator with Government and non-Government Department and organizations. In fact, she is one of those American Sikh youngsters who are trying to help their community so that the Sikhs may live in USA with their Sikh identity with deserved honours and rewards. She is really doing significant work for the community. A real role model indeed.
