Amritpal Singh

Amritpal Singh, a prominent personality of stage and film world, was born on 20th May 1972 at Thana, Maharashtra, India in the house of S. Davinderpal Singh and Satnam Kaur. He studied at a school at Thana up to middle and then family shifted to Mohali. He completed his education with graduation from Khalsa College Chandigarh. During all these years he learnt Bhangra and Gatka and started giving performances in these arts. Whereas he became the best Bhangra dancer of Punjab University in 1995, he also staged various Gatka shows in different parts of the country. He was associated with theatre from 1989 till 2012. Under the guidance of S. Charan Singh Sindera, he played an important role in many of the religious play like Mard Agammada, Hind di Chadar and etc. Apart from the stage plays, he has acted in more than 25 Punjabi movies, 7 Hindi movies and a number of short movies made for promotion of Sikh relgion. His popular Punjabi movie include ‘Jat and Juliet’, ‘Sade CM Sahib’, and ‘Channo’. Some Punjabi movies on religious subjects include ‘Mitar Pyare Nu Haal Murida Da Kehna’, ‘Bhai Kanhiya JI’, ‘Proud to be A Sikh’ and ‘Akalpurakh Ki Fauj’. His Hindi movies include ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Singh is King’ and ‘Sarabjeet’. He has also acted in a number of Punjabi and Hindi T.V. serials like ‘Vichhora’ (Punjabi), ‘Rab Se Sohna Isqu’ and ‘Maharaja Ranjit Singh’ (both in Hindi). He is a role-model as in spite of his active life in glamour world where he has worked even with top actresses, he has maintained his Sikh identity and lived his life as per the Sikh way of living. Such a person is definitely a great source of inspirations for the young generation who are attracted towards the glamour world.
