Arjun Singh

Arjun Singh Sethi was born in 1981 and grew up in Virginia. His parents had shifted from India. After obtaining his requisite qualification from New York University School of Law in 2008, he started his profession of an Advocate. He previously worked as an attorney with the international law firm of Covington & Burling in Washington D.C., and as the legislative counsel/policy advisor with the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union), also in Washington, D.C.. He handled civil rights and social justice related issues. He represented many victims of domestic violence, asylum seekers, national security detainees, and criminal defendants on death row. Being also a wonderful writer he has written a lot on the related subjects and that has appeared in various papers, magazines, journals including The Law Journal. He continues to be a regular contributor to national media outlets like Al Jazeera America, CNN, the Washington Post, and USA Today, and is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, where he teaches a course on 21st century policing and surveillance.
He is not only an outstanding Advocate, but also a young Sikh who is eager to defend the rights of his co-religionists. Thus he joined the Sikh Sikh Coalition with nearly a decade of litigation and advocacy experience as he Director of Law & Policy in June 2015. In this role, he is responsible for advocating and promoting policy solutions to civil rights issues that impact Sikhs and the broader American public. His work focuses on government affairs on Capitol Hill, inside the White House, and across numerous federal agencies, including the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of State. He is truly a role model as he has combined in himself several qualities of leadership, mediaman, writer and a strong campaigner of human rights including those of Sikhs. He is living in Washington D.C.
