Description

  1. An Epitome of Sikhi and Grand Old Man of Sikhdom
  2. Baba Buddha ji (6 October 1506 – 8 September 1631), a prime figure in early Sikhism.
  3. He was one of the earliest disciples of Guru Nanak.
  4. He performed the formal coronation ceremonies of 5 sikh gurus, till Guru Hargobind.
  5. It is said that in his childhood, he was blessed with a long life by Guru Nanak, who named him as Buddha (meaning – Old/Aged Man) after he was amused by his mature queries related to spirituality at such a tender age.
  6. He was also the first person to take a Hukamnama (command) from the Adi Granth Sahib Ji.
  7. Budha Ji’s birth took place in October 1506 in the village of Kathu Nangal.
  8. His father’s name was Baba Sunghae Randhawa and mother’s name was Mata Gowra Ji.
  9. He had four sons – Baba Sudhari, Bhikhari, Mehimoo, and Bhana Ji.
