Baba Sewa Singh

Baba Sewa Singh, born on 15th March 1960 in village Banaia Tehsil Khadoor Sahib of district Taran taran, Punjab, Succeeded Baba Uttam Singh in March 1990 as the head of a socio Religious organization, Kaar Sewa Khadoor sahib (founded in 1920). He had reached this position after serving the organization for many years with duties like caring of dogs and animals, langer duties, driving Kaar Sewa vehicles and supervision of construction of various projects. As head of the organization he not only started a number of new construction projects including “Nishan-e-Sikhi” (a proud project of Sikh’s), but also launched a special project of environment cleaning at mass level. When whole World is worried about deterioration of environmental conditions, Babaji’s efforts of planting lakhs of trees in various parts of Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and M.P. States of India, have shown light in this regard. His efforts for propagation of tenets and teachings of the Guru’s also deserve appreciation. His considerable works have brought him a large number of awards and honors in India and abroad. These include Bandi Chodh Award, Punjab Rattan Award, Bharat Nirman Award and a State level Award by Punjab Pollution control Board for doing the commendable work in saving the environment of Punjab State. He has also been honored by Guru Gobind Singh foundation Washington DC, USA, Guru Singh Sabha Alhambra, LA, USA and by HRH Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburg and His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General United Nations During Windsor Castle celebrations in London (2009). His overall personality of a simple, dedicated human being, preacher and an environmentalist makes him a Gursikh role-model.
