Bhupinder Singh Ubbi, a Sikh preacher from Toronto, was born on 1ST April 1938 at village Jhamat, Disst. Ludhiana in the house of S. Hari Singh Ubbi and Kartar Kaur. His father was an Indian railways officer. Bhupinder Singh had his early education at Sirhand and then joined Government College Ludhiana for F.Sc. He completed a three years diploma in mechanical engineering with distinction from G.N.E. Ludhiana, in 1961. He then Graduated in Mechanical engineering from Institute of Engineers India( A.M.I.E). After completing his education he joined Ramgarhia Polytechnic, Phagwara in 1961 as Mechanical engineering instructor. Then he got the chance to join renowned company called H.M.T, Pinjore in 1964. He worked there with full dedication and left the company as Supervisor (Final Assembly) in 1972 with good understanding, where he got the chance to visit Canada. In 1972. He joined the company F.G.L precision work Ltd. in Toronto as mould/tool and die maker. During his service in the company, he upgraded his technical education by completing courses in this field recognized by the ministry of colleges and universities in Toronto in 1981. He also completed a computer science course from Seneca college in the same years. He worked for the company F.G.L. for 30 years and retired as supervisor and incharge of the E.D.M. Section. This was his 3rd position in the company, which few Asians have achieved so far. S. Ubbi is a role model as he has done excellent social and religious work for the Sikh community, particularly for Ram Garhia Sikh Society (established in 1980). He served this society as P.R.O two times, Gen. Secretary three times and as president two times. Whereas S. Bhupinder Singh’s efforts for the upliftment of the Ram Garhia’s are highly appreciable, his contribution for the Sikh religion on the whole is also significant. He is a very good writer, a wonderful orator, a successful stage sectary and a Tabla player. He is a member and active worker of a number of societies and organization. S. Bhupinders Singh Ubbi married Smt. Avtar Kaur Dewgan on 13 October 1961. She is also very pious and God fearing lady. She had helped and supported her husband in every aspect with her untiring support. The couple is blessed with a son and two daughters who are all married and are well settled in Canada.
