Dr. Inderjeet Singh Gogoani

Dr. Inderjeet Singh Gogoani, a prominent writer, researcher and a well known Sikh preacher, was born on 12th September 1961 at village Gogoani, Jeera, Distt. Ferozepur, Punjab in the house of S. Gurmej Singh and Bibi Balbir Kaur Ji. After obtaining higher education by doing B.Ed., M.A. Punjabi and religious studies and also Sangeet Prabhakar – Visharad, he did his Ph.D. on Giani Gurdit Singh. During all the years of studies, he engaged himself in research on Sikh history, values and concepts. He has succeeded in writing, different genres of literature like prose, poetry, biographies, plays and stories. Whereas ‘Diva Bale Andhera Jaye’ and ‘Sach Aakhan Ta Bhambad Machda’ are his books in the form of prosaic dialogues, his book ‘Jagan da Vela’ is a collection of poems. He has written biographies of Giani Dit Singh and ‘Dal Bhanjan Gur Soorma’ (Guru Gobind Singh). His satirical titles like ‘Bhai Bharamtod Singh’ and ‘Bhoot Kiven Bhajaya’ provide an interesting reading with a message clarifying the Sikh concepts. He has also written One act plays (Baba Katha Singh), historical plays (Singh Soorme) and a light and sound presentation on the life of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar. His book for children ‘Sikhi Sikya Gurvichar’ is highly motivational. Further, he has written the story and the dialogue of animation films, namely ‘Chote Sahibzade’, ‘Guru Maneyo Granth’ and ‘Singh Soorme’ and also of some documentary films on Sikh religion. Dr. Gogoani is presently Head of the Department of history and religious study at Khalsa College Amritsar. He deliveres lectures, participates in seminars and attends and organizes various spiritual camps for propagation of Sikh religion. His talks on radio and TV on Sikh religion provides useful information and clarify the concepts and interpretation of this great religion. For example, in a seminar held in April 2016 on personality development at Bathinda. Dr. Gogoani talked about 16 essential virtues of a good personality and how to adopt good virtues, such as good communication skills, humility, honesty, darling to speak truth, professional skills, ethics, contentment, high moral character and ethical and moral values. As many as 1000 students from the various constituent colleges of Adesh University attended the seminar. Thus, with his unique style of conviction, humour and command over language, he distinguishes himself as intellectual preacher of Sikhism. The role-model preacher lives in Amritsar.
