Description

  1. Rajwant Singh is the founder and President of EcoSikh.
  2. Dr. Singh is also the Chairman of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education (SCORE), Communications Director of the Sikh Human Development Foundation, and Secretary of the Guru Gobind Singh Foundation in Maryland.
  3. In the past, Dr. Singh has also held the presidency of the Interfaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington, where he convened faith communities in DC for joint discussions.
  4. Singh currently resides in the Washington, DC Metro Area with his wife and two children. Rajwant Singh is a practicing dentist in Maryland and has three clinics.
  5. He is married to Dr. Balvinder Kaur and has a daughter, Sehejneet Kaur and a son, Guransh Singh. Rajwant Singh is the founder and President of EcoSikh, a response from the Sikh community to the threats of climate change and the deterioration of the environment.
  6. EcoSikh operates chiefly in India and the United States with environmental outreach programs. Worldwide, Sikh Environment Day has become EcoSikh’s main staple to increase environmental actions taken by the Sikh community. In September 2014, EcoSikh released the first Sikh statement on climate change, which aims to include Sikhs in the critical environmental dialogue. Singh is also the Chairman of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education (SCORE), an organization that speaks on issues related to Sikhs; Communications Director of the Sikh Human Development Foundation(SHDF), which provides need-based scholarships for higher education to underprivileged students in India; and Secretary of the Guru Gobind Singh Foundation(GGSF), a Sikh congregation in Maryland. He is one of the founders of SHDF and GGSF. He is a Co-founder and Senior Advisor to the National Sikh Campaign, an initiative to change the way Sikhs are perceived in America.
  7. He has worked with three different presidents: Clinton, Bush and Obama and their respective administrations on various faith-based, social justice, and environmental issues. Singh also initiated the first ever White House celebration of the Birthday of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism.
  8. Internationally, Dr. Singh has represented the Sikh perspective in numerous international forums and has been invited by the Vatican and Buckingham Palace to serve as a Sikh representative.
  9. He has spoken at the United Nations and other environmental forums in the United Kingdom, Greece, Turkey, Japan and Russia. As a co-founder of the Green Pilgrimage Network. Singh has worked to transform pilgrim cities of various faiths to be eco-friendly environments.
  10. In the past, Dr. Singh has held the presidency of the Interfaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington, where he convened faith communities in Washington, D.C. for joint discussions.
  11. He has given commentary to many media outlets, including CNN. Dr. Singh currently resides in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area.
