Dr. Sarup Singh Alag is one of the most distinguished scholars, writers and preachers of Sikh religion, who has dedicated his entire life for the propagation of Sikh literature, Dr. Sarup Singh Alag was born on 1st January 1936 at village dora Badhal (Now in Pakistan). Although, he performed his duties in PSEB with utmost honesty and dedication and held such important post as Secy: Staff Selection Committee, Controller : Accounts Exams and Director : Public Relations, Languages, he continued to add to his knowledge by studying and getting degree after degree. That is why he is MA (History, Urdu, Economics, English and Panjabi); Ph.D (Washington-U.S.A.) D. Litt U.S.A; BT(A teaching degree); FIBR, Nagpur; Dip (Linguistics, Sanskrit, German, Education and Teaching); CBS Southamption (UK). As a devout Sikh, he believes that who so ever seeks the welfare of the Sikhi should make sincere effort to save our language and identity. With a firm belief that Gurbani can help us in becoming Gursikh, he setup a Trust known as Alag Shabad Yug Trust. This trust is aimed at spreading Knowledge of Sikh Glory, Thus, Dr. Alag has produced valuable literature in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujrati, Bengali and Italian and distributed the same free of charge all over the world. It is such a noble and gigantic task which only Dr. Alag could do and rejoicingly. Out of his 112 publications highly acclaimed the world over, his Panjabi book HARMANDAR DARSHAN set a remarkable record which honourably got entry in Limca Book of Records and India Book Of Records 2016 for its maximum published editions (216 Deluxe Editions till now. It is heartening that he enthusiastically produced lakhs of copies on three books in Punjabi, Hindi and English concerning Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th Parkash Purab and now he is busy in distributing three books again in Punjabi, Hindi and English concerning the quad centenary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib being celebrated from 12th April 2020 to Baisakhi 2021.The Sangat has fully backed his various projects initiated under the name of Alag Shabad Yug International Charitable Trust, functional from its headquarters at Ludhiana and of course having effective supporters everywhere. Many dedicated and selfless Gur-Sikhs have taken the task of the Trust in their own hands and are running this prestigious project voluntarily in an exemplary way.
