Giani Kewal Singh, Former Jathedar Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda was born on 01.04.1953 at Pandori Ran Singh village, Amritsar. He had his school education at Amritsar and later on got his Gurmat education from Sheheed Sikh Missionary Collge run by S.G.P.C. at Amritsar. He worked as SGPC Preacher and also with U.P. Sikh Mission Hapur from 1974-1976. He was Professor of Gurmat College, Nanak Matta, U.P. from 1978-80. After working as Granthi in Gurdwara Singh Sabha,Lajpat Nagar, Jalandhar (1980-84) Gurdwara Singh Sabha Khar, Mumbai (1984-860 and Gurdwara Kalgidhar Singh Sabha, Fieldganj, Ludhiana (1986-88), he was appointed Head Granthi Akal Takhat Sahib, Amritsar in 1988. He was appointed Jathedar – Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo and worked there from 1993-2002. He is patron of Sri Gobind Singh Polytechnic College, Talwandi Sabo,Bathinda, Chairman of Bhai Gurdas Acadamy (Co-educational Insitition in Rural Area Affiliated with CBSE) Pandori Ransingh, Taran Taran, Chairman of Maharani Jind Kaur Trust (Charitable Society), Pandori Ram Singh Taran Taran & member of Vatavaran and Samaj Bachao Morcha Punjab. He is also the main Convener of ‘Panthak Taalmel Sangathan’ (consisting of various organizations) which is making efforts to revamp the present Gurdwara Management system on the lines of Sarbat Khalsa concept of the earlier times. He is a great inspring force for the Sikhs all over the world.
