Gurdwara Manji Sahib

When the 6th Guru visited Srinagar, the Sikh Preacher at that time was
carrying on the Manji was Sewadas. This Gurdwara Manji Sahib was the place
of stay of the Guru for nearly 3 months. The Guru held his congregations and
delivered discourses to his devotees. One of the devotees was Bhai Sewadas’s
mother, Mai Bhagbhari. Mai Bhagbhari had sewn a gown for the Guru with here
own hands and cherished a wish that the Guru should visit here and wear the
same. When the Guru visited the residence of Mai Bhagbhari and fulfilled her
wish, she got the best of her happiness. This place now is the site of Gurdwara
Chhevin Patshahi, located on the Jhelum River and Dal Lake outside Kathi Gate
of Hari Parbat Fort. The Guru stayed there till Mai Bhagbhari left the world and
he supervised her last rites. The popularity of this Gurdwara among the tourists,
visitors and the local people has really immortalized Mai Bhagbhari.
