Gurdwaras at Ludhiana

One of the most visited non-historic Gurdwaras in Punjab is Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib at Ludhiana. This Gurdwara, located in the heart of the city in Field Ganj area just opposite to Jagraon bridge is stated to be visited by average 50,000 devotees every day. Another significant fact regarding this Gurdwara is that it is the first Gurdwara in India to adopt hi-tech projection which puts Gurbani on wide screens so that devotees can better understand the hymns of the scripture as the priests sing. According to a Zee News report “Its adoration or veneration of Guru Granth Sahib, many of the current generation raised in a cosmopolitan ambience, cannot understand the text of the Gurbani-literally ‘the words of the teachers’. So the screens allow the devotees and visitors to follow the words as they are sung with verses in Gurmukhi along with translations in English, which has helped the devotees to sing along of sort of karaoke style.” The management committee of this Gurdwara is headed by S. Pritpal Singh Pali (9872500005).

Another non-historic Gurdwara which attracts a big number of devotees in Ludhiana is known as Gurdwara Kalgidhar Sahib. It is also situated in Field Ganj area of the city. Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Singh Sabha is that Gurdwara where in the earlier years of his career, Bhai Pindarpal Singh one of the well known Kathawachaks in present day used to do katha everyday. S. Gurmit Singh (9888310310) and S. Jarnail Singh (9814051265) are the president and secretary of the Singh Sahba which manages this Gurdwara.
