Gurdwaras in East and South Delhi

Sikh population is quite substantial even in east Delhi, where also there are a number of Gurdwaras catering to the spiritual need of the sangat of those areas. Most of the Gurdwaras in east Delhi are Gurdwaras Singh Sabha, whether it is Jheel Kurenja, Janhagir Puri, Hargobind Enclve, Gandhi Nagar, Azad Nagar or Geeta Coloney. In Geeta Coloney there are a number of Gurdwaras in different blocks. In all these Gudwaras, a number of programmes of Gurbani Kirtan and Kath Vichar are organized. The Gurpurabs are also celebrated with considerable participation by the sangat (devotees). Many Sikhs who had migrated from Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan have also setup their Gurdwaras at different places in Delhi including the one in South Delhi. South Delhi houses the elite and prosperous Sikhs. A number of Gurdwaras in South Delhi like that of Jangpura (contact No: 9811489707), Bhogal (contact No: 9971684824), Green Park (contact No: 9212747183), Vasant Vihar (contact No: 9968739362), Hemkunt Colony, Defence Colony (contact no. 24331206) and Greater Kailash are visited by a large number of devotees. A number of devotional programmes of Kirtan and Katha are also organised in these Gurdwaras. There is a Langar facility in all the Gurdwaras and some of them even provide medical facilities through Dispensaries. Defence Colony Gurdwara also organises various seminars on Panthic subjects in its basement. S. Gurpreet Singh Bawa and S. Inderpal Singh Talwar are the President and Secretary of this Gurdwara. S.
