Gurdwaras in Jharkhand

Ranchi and Jamshedpur popularly known as Tata Nagar are the two cities in Jharkhand where Sikhs are living in good number, particularly in Tata Nagar (Jamshedpur), many of them are employed with Tata Group of Enterprises. There is one Gurdwara at Ranchi which is situated at Mahatma Gandhi Main Road, Lower Bazar. Its contact No. is 09643905208. Coming to Jamshedpur there are 34 Gurdwaras in the city. We have a Gurdwara Central Samiti which oversees the management of these Gurdwaras in the city. One of these Gurdwaras is situated in Jugsali (00916572293430), the other one is situated at Azad Basti (0091- 9199269266). However, most important Gurdwara managed by the Samiti is known as Sakchi Gurdwara. This Gurdwara is situated at 11/329, New Kali Mati Road, Hira Singh Bagan, Kasid, Jamshedpur. This is very well maintained, clean and beautiful Gurdwara with pure white marble structure. This Gurdwara was built by the Sikh community who came to work here in the large factories of Jamshedpur. Beside daily maryada, all big occasion are celebrated with this Gurdwara as the central point. For example, when Guru Nanak’s Birthday is celebrated, a large procession is taken out from Sonari Gurdwara to Sakchi Gurdwara. The people watch the members of Istree Satsang Samiti, Naujwan Sabha, Sewak Jatha Dal and Individuals all singing hymns from Gurbani and marching with utmost devotion and dedication. The Gatka performance, the sumptuous Langar catering to all the people of the city, are some of the special feature of the celebration in city. All the Gurdwaras serve Langar and all the Gurdwaras are illuminated at night.
