The most important Gurdwara in this area is undoubtedly Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Rajouri Garden. This Gurdwara has a history of more than 50 years. The land for the said Gurdwara was purchased by the sangat in 1955 and Gurdwara was started with a small construction of 1 room in the early sixties. Those who made efforts for the purchase and construction of the Gurdwara in those years included S. Kartar Singh Gill (brother of S. Laxman Singh Gill, CM Punjab). Various management committees expanded the Gurdwara building as well as the activities attached to it. S. Taran Singh, S. Kulmohan Singh, S. Hari Singh & S. Kartar Singh Sahni were the active associates of the management committees which purchased land for the school, started the school and dispensary. When the committee wanted to have a Gurdwara in F-Block where some builder was starting the construction, the sangat made efforts to purchase back, the said Gurdwara land by paying considerable amounts to the builder. S. Harman Jeet Singh, the present President of the Committee was the main donor. When that land in F Block was given for Baru Sahib Gurdwara, The Kalgidhar Trust constructed a beautiful Gurdwara named as Gurdwara Sant Shahbegh Singh, Rajouri Garden.
The managing committee of Gurdwara under reference concentrated on its development. Gurdwara was constructed in the early 70’s and the advisory committee managing the same made rules and sub rules in the first half of 70s. It was registered as a society vide Registration no. 914. All the committees elected from time to time contributed to the development of Gurdwara and various activities attached to it. The last committee led by S. Manmohan Singh Kochhar added lift and a Langar hall in the Gurdwara Building. However, most of the committees tried to extend their terms as far as possible and some of them even dominated the scene for more than ten years. However, the present Committee lead by S. Harmanjit Singh (M.: 9891299929) having its Senior Vice President S. Harbans Singh Bhatia, and Secretary S. Harinder Singh, saw to it that the elections were held in time and now the same committee is continuing for its third term (one term is of two years). During this short period, this committee has done a wonderful job in not only enhancing the ambience of the Gurdwara premises, langar hall, and the school, but has also added so many new things for the welfare of the people. The section of mentally weak students added in the school and the construction of a senior citizens day care hall are the two additions which will benefit the special category of children as well as the senior citizens. The dispensary has been renovated and extended to such an extent that now with the facilities available in it. It has become one of the best dispensaries in Delhi. Even the standard of education in Guru Nanak Public School working under the management of the Gurdwara has improved considerably under the able stewardship of the Principal Dr. S.S. Minhas. All these things and the wonderful programmes which are organised here by inviting the renowned scholars, ragis, and kathavachaks have made this Gurdwara distinguishable, deserving a special mention.
