Gurujas Kaur Khalsa, a converted Sikh devotional singer, became a role model when her album ‘White Son II’ won 2017 Grammy Award in the Best New Age Album Category. She is the lead vocalist and lyricist of this album. The songs of this album are in Gurmukhi, but the emotional voice given by the vocal performer touch the very heart of the listeners. Some of the compositions are from Gurbani and the melody attached to the same made the album so popular that lakhs of people became connected to it. Gurujas believes that music has a magical effact on the people as it brings peace of mind and harmony in the life. It may be mentioned here that the album under reference had been released by a California based music group ‘White Son’. It had to face a tough competition with others like Enya and Vangelis, but it defeated them in the new age category and won this international music honour. The two Sikh members connected with this winner band are Gurujas Kaur Khalsa, singer and Harjiwan Singh Khalsa, instrumentalist. Both of them adore Sikh turbans and live in Sikhi sarup. Their winning such an honour is a matter of pride for all the Sikhs.
