When Yogi Harbhajan Singh was successful in training a large number of Americans in Yoga and connecting them with Sikh values, he founded an academy with the name Miri Piri Academy in 1997 at Sri Amritsar Sahib. He wanted this institution to create an environment that fosters mastery of the mind, elevation of the spirit, and gives the experience of the depth and power of the being. Through applying the lifestyle teachings of Sikh Dharma, the technology and science of Kundalini Yoga, and a rigorous academic program, we create a generation of Human beings who shall live as such and through their service, shape the destiny of this earth. Thus, to achieve such objects, a worthy principle has always been required. The present principle Jagat Guru Singh Khalsa is that spiritual teacher who had spent considerable period under the guidance of Yogi Bhajan, and dedicated his life to serving the mission of Yogi Bhajan by helping to shape the next generation teachers and leaders of this amazing technology of Kundalini Yoga. He has been a KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga teacher and a lead trainer at Miri Piri Academy in India for the last 15 years and is the most popular Principal of Academy’s history, having earned the respect of all the students and teachers. Born on 8th November, 1955, Jagat Guru was assigned this duty of principle in Miri Piri Academy, Amritsar. In addition to being a successful spiritual teacher and the head of the academy, he is also an excellent singer of Gurbani. He leads the Japas of the Kundalini Surjhee Mantra around the wold; tasks that required unbelievable meditative stability and strength. Jugat Guru has practiced NAAD (Meditative sound current) under several Gurus for the last 12 years and had the privilege of sitting directly with Yogi Bhajan to enrich his understanding of this vast and intricate science. Jugat Guru Khalsa is also a member of the beloved Chardi Kala Jatha as such travels extensively teaching and performing kirtan all around the world. This group of musicians (Ragis) is the only group of Westerners invited to play at the Golden Temple in India, a testament to their amazing mastery of the technique. He is really a great role model not only for his students, but the entire youth, the Sikhs in particular.
