Jagdish Singh Gill

Jagdish Singh Gill is a rising star in the Canadian field hockey. He was born on 5th December 1984 at Kolkata in the house of S. Jagtar Singh Gill and Amarjit Kaur Gill. He studied in Kolkata, ending with graduation in commerce from Kolkata University. He had Started playing field hockey while attending Khalsa English High School in Kolkata. When he settled in Toronto, Ontario, he joined the carrer of a certified financial planner. However, his interest in field hockey made him popular. When in 2011, he helped Canada win silver at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, he became a national hero. Since then he has more than 50 senior national caps. In late 2015 he was a member of the team that finished eighth overall at the FIH World League Final, which happened to be played in his birth country of India. He made his Olympic debut at Rio 2016. Although, in the Olympics, the team ended 11th, it became one of notable hockey teams of the world. Being an outstanding hockey player of a foreign country, S. Jagdish Singh has brought honor to the entire Sikh people in the world. Thus he is a role model to inspire thousand of Sikhs to come forward and make their name in the field of sports in their adoptive country.
