Jagjit Singh

Jagjit Singh, a Labor Party Counselor who represents the Yeading Ward, is known as record making marathon runner. He has been participating in marathons since 2004. The 56 years old runner has taken part in 238 marathons so far. In 2015 he made an attempt at running a Gruelling 4 marathons in four days for raising funds for the Mayor of Hillingdon’s Charity. He is in the news again as he has completed on 31st January 2017 his Marathon race in seven continents in seven days (starting 25th January to 31 January 2017). The places for these marathons were Perth in Australia, Singapore, Ejaipt in Africa, Holland in Europe, New York in North America, Chilly in South America and Antarctica. A unique feature of this seven continents marathons was that he ran with Nishan Sahib in his hand. He has become the first turbaned Sikh to do this feat. Thus, he has become a role model to inspire others to perform such acts of valour. S. Jagjit Singh lives in Hayes, London.
