Jasleen Kaur

Jasleen Kaur D/o S. Narinder Singh, was born on 17th May 1991. Born in a devout Sikh family, she was brought up in an environment of Gursikhi. The entire family was devoted to read, listen and imbibe the spirit of Gurbani in their life. In that process, from her very childhood Jasleen Kaur along with her two sisters, namely Manmeet Kaur and Mansimar Kaur (born on 8th October 1993 and 17th October 1998 respectively) started leaning by heart various Banis as contained in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Gradually, the number of Banis remembered by them became so big that they caught the attention of all those who were interested in preaching Sikh religion. There were very few persons who could match the number of Banis remembered by Jasleen and her two sisters at that tender age. Kes Sambhal Parchar Sanstha was also attracted when the reputation of the three sisters reached them. A panel of scholars of the Sanstha examined the three girls and found their contention of remembering so big number of Banis as correct. Thus, the Sanstha honoured Jasleen and her two sisters at a function held in October 2005 at Ludhiana.
This great achievement of the three girls from the same family was not short lived. They continued to memorize more and more Banis and even today Jasleen Kaur can recite 65 Banis from Sri Guru Granth Sahib, which she remember by heart. The three girls were not only excellent in this wonderful feat of remembering Banis, but have also been very good in their studies. Presently Jasleen is doing service with some MNC after doing her C.A. Manmeet has also cleared her C.A. very recently. Mansimar has just left her school (she remember 72 Banis at present). In short, all these three girls have won a numbers of prizes, awards and appreciations both for their academic achievements and excellence in memorizing a considerable part of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, a rare achievement in deed. Their interest in doing Sehaj Path and Kirtan makes them the excellent role-models for Sikh youth.
