Narinderpal Singh

Narinderpal Singh, a Sikh scholar and a renowned preacher of Sikhism, was born on 1st November 1949 in the house of S. Balwant Singh. He got his education in Delhi by doing B.Sc. and M.A. Psychology from Delhi University (1969 and 1974 respectively). His interest in his religion and mother tongue prompted him from time to time and he added to his qualification, related degrees of Giani (Punjabi literature) from Punjabi University in 1971, Masters Degree in Punjabi from Delhi University in 1978 and Masters Degree in History from Delhi University in 1991. It was his quest for knowledge that he added many professional qualifications like Training Courses in Teaching of Biology, Education and vocational guidance course B.Ed. from Delhi University (1980), UNICEF project on development of HB activities from Directorate of Education (1979-80), Orientation course on Culture and education 1988 and Training courses on Teaching of History and culture (1992-93).He also holds various diplomas including one on Education Planning and Administration from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad (2007).
Above all, he has done lots of research work on social and religious subjects which include Psychological subjects like mental retardation in Psychology and educational sciences and religious subjects like Dakhni Onkar bani, Educational Philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Values in Dasam Granth. His papers presented on these subjects have been highly appreciated. The paper on Values in Dasam Granth was presented to Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee very recently. He is also a member of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Research Group and Bhai Veer Singh Sadan Delhi. As his qualification and research work is very vast, so is his teaching experience of science, history and literature for a long numbers of years ending with Principal ship of a Senior Secondary School from 1998-2001 and Super Ability School from 2001-2008. In addition he has been associated in the field of education as an evaluation expert with NIOS, NCERT, SCERT, as a Convener for Super Ability Schools of Delhi and its academic council and as a Resource Person in Science Branch; and SCERT, CCRT, NCERT, National Open School for training of Teachers, Training Manual, Book writing & Supplementary Reading Material from 1972 to till date. All these factual details establish that he is one of the greatest Sikh scholars of the present times. Further, the services which he is rendering as a scholar are marvelous. He is a visiting faculty with Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Gurmat Missionary College, Ropar, Gurmat Gyan Missionary College, Ludhiana and Atam Pragas Social Welfare Council, Ludhiana, Delivered special lectures on Gurmat Philosophy and History in Gurmat Camps at Hyderabd, Bombay and Lucknow, and at present taking special lectuers on different topics of Short Term Guru Granth Sahib Study Course since 2008 at Gurmat College, Delhi. The great role-model has been honoured with various awards by various organizations. Whereas he scored first position in M.A. in 1974, he got a census bronze medal from Government of India in 1991. Some other awards include Best Teacher Award from Lions Club Delhi (2003), Best Teacher Award from Government in 2005, State award from Lt. Governor, B.L. Joshi for Scout and Guide in 2006 and awards from Chief Minister Mrs. Shiela Dixit for excellent results in 2005, 2006 and 2007. As a human being, he is a perfect Gursikh possessing Gurmat qualities of humility, honesty, dedication, sweet speech and a strong determination to get the desired results. Thus, as an excellent teacher, a dedicated preacher and a noble human being, he is a perfect role-model.
