Rajasthan being an adjoining state of Punjab has a considerable Sikh population, particularly in cities like Ganganagar, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur. The maximum population of Sikhs is concentrated in Ganganagar and Jaipur. Jaipur, the capital city has more than 35 Gurdwaras in different areas. Some of the famous Gurdwaras are Gurdwara Guru Nanak Sahib in Thadi Market, Gurudwara Sri Nanak Darbar in Jawaharlal Nagar, a Gurdwara near Amer Fort called Hida Ki Mori Gurdwara and a Sindhi Gurdwara. The most famous Gurdwaras are those managed by Singh Sabhas. One of these is located at Thadi Market, Mansarovar. This is the place where considerable Sikh population resides. Apart from the daily maryada and kirtan programmes on all days including specific occasions, this Gurdwara is also known for a number of rooms available here along with one hall for the stay of the visitors. The other Gurdwara managed by a Singh Sabha is situated at Raja Park. This Gurdwara is managed by a committee of eleven persons. Presently its President is S. Kesar Singh and S. Gurmeet Singh (9680847957) is the Secretary. In Ganganagar, whereas there is a historical Gurdwara called Buddha Johad, there is also a big Gurdwara known as Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha situated at station road, Ganganagar. This Gurdwara was constructed and started on 16 August 1930. Apart from daily maryada and programmes on all days including big occasion, this Gurdwara is also known for considerable accommodation available for the stay of visitors. In Jodhpur also there is a Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha near Anand Cinema, Sojti Gate, Jodhpur. This Gurdwara is known because of a bed which a Muslim had presented to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and which is preserved here. Here also some rooms are available for the stay of the visitors. Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha located in the centre of the city is the oldest Gurdwara which was built in 1932. Its address is Delhi Gate, near Guru Nanak School, Udaipur. The Gurdwara at C-53- 56 class Bohra Ganesh road, Partap Nagar is situated in a narrow lane, but is visited by a good number of devotees on weekend programs. The other two Gurdwaras are the most popular Gurdwaras, one is situated in sector 14 whereas the other is situated in what is known as Sikh Coloney. This Gurdwara being surrounded by the Sikh population is the most popular Gurdwara in the town. When, after the partition of the country, a large number of Sikhs migrated to this place and settled here, the land was particularly allotted by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, first Prime Minister of India. This Gurdwara known as Gurdwara Sachkhand Darbar has a pleasing architecture and can accommodate around 500 devotees at a time.
