Pardeep Singh Nagra

Pardeep Singh Nagra is a multifacited personality having various talents. Although he was born in India, he was a toddler when their family shifted to Canada. He had his education in maltom, Missisauga, Ontario and grew up as a sports person. He played soccer, did wrestling and was also tennis champion. He also took interest in Badminton and Hockey. It was his interest in sports that he joined peel regional police force as an auxiliary constable. When he wanted to compete in the Canadian boxing championships, he was barred from competing because of his articles of faith like unshorn hair, beard and turban. Claiming his right to follow his religion, he fought legally and ultimately succeded in getting a place in the competition. He is still an athlete and has competed in many marathons.With his fight for humanrights, he became a recognized humanright activist and an athlete.In addttion, he is a gurusikh having lot of interest in Sikh history and research. Being the excutive director of Sikh Heritage museum in Canada, located in Missisauga, Ontario, he has got a lot of research conducted and programs organized on Sikh History and Culture.
This year, in 2016 when Sikh heritage month was organized in his area (Toranto) various programs were organized at PAMA center at Brampton. He is a role model for the youngsters and is providing effective leardership to them, wherever needed. His achievements show us a way as how can we keep our religious identity intact and make a respectable place for us even in forgien countries.
