Partapdev Kaur was born in Spain in a Christian background. She came into contact with the Kundalini Yoga Teachers and was impressed by their teachings of Yoga and Sikhism through its techniques. She moved to an Ashram Quinta Do Rajo in Purtgal to know more about Sikh philosophy, values and teachings. After conversion to Sikhism and adopting the Sikh name, she decided to move to England to have interaction with larger Sangat and congregations.
