Rupinder Singh Marco

Rupinder Singh Marco, an affluent business tycoon, based in Delhi, was born on 22nd of June 1943 in the village Gah (Undivided Punjab) His father Late S. Manohar Singh Marco was also a very successful businessman, but was better known as a dedicated researcher of the hand written artifacts of Sikhism such as Beers, Hukamnamas and other documents scribed by Sikh Gurus and writers. Rupinder Singh joined his father in the business in 1973. Although he worked hard to expand his business, he also started taking interest in the research work done by his father. He started ‘Marco Research Foundation’ and opened a separate office and appointed separate staff for this so that the research work may continue independently. The main object of this organization is to publish the research work of S. Manohar Singh so that such publications may prove a useful reference record for the future historians. S. Rupinder Singh got his work published as a very colorful coffee table book with the title “Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Di Pavan Punit Bani Diyaa Hath Likhat Prachin Beeran di Parikarma (Vol.1)” Volume 2nd and 3rd on this subject is under publication. Rupinder Singh has also associated with other likeminded people to discuss the research on any old records/documents on Sikhism. He holds meetings to discuss the relevant subjects with various scholars and researchers. They also consider the old research in the present perspective and provide useful inputs to make it relevant
in the present time. Whenever some information regarding the possession of some such useful documents with a particular person comes to their notice they contact the concerned person as to the facts and then record it. Another important organization of which Rupinder Singh Marco is the Joint Secretary is’ The International Sikh Heritage Center’. This center came into being in 2003 as a non-profit organization as an endeavor to protect and preserve the eroding Sikh heritage. S. Rupinder Singh plays a very important role in this organization also. It is evidenced by the fact that he conceived and gave a shape again to a beautiful coffee table volume depicting various stamps on Sikhism released in different countries. This book titled “Sikh Heritage through Stamps” published by the International Sikh Heritage Centre is unique in the sense that it rekindles the happiness and the pride on seeing the different stamps arranged under different headings high lighting our achievements in different fields. All these facts establish that S. Rupinder Singh Marco is not only a prominent business person, but also a great role-model who desires to spread the knowledge about Sikh religion on the basis of research, past and present and also to preserve our heritage for the benefit of the future generations. He gave many talks on preservation of Sikh heritage and documents on various TV channels.
