Sarabjeet Singh Renuka

Sarabjeet Singh Renuka, a well known student of Sikhi, based in Ludhiana, was born on 26th December 1964 in the house of S. Mahinder Singh and Bibi Gurdeep Kaur. As his parents were a devout Sikh couple, he was brought up in a Gursikh way of living. He completed his education with Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication. Presently, he is working as a Professor of Journalism in Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. In addition to his holding of a high position, he is very well known as a social activist, a writer and a preacher of Sikhism. He has written profusely on social problems including drug addiction for which he made a detailed study under the United Nation International Drug Control Programme (UNDCP). He pioneered the drug abuse movement in Punjab. He covered the reasons of increased drug addiction and how the drug was becoming available to the affected people. His research on this important subject found a mention in the Editorial of ‘The Tribune’ whereby his efforts in this regard were appreciated. He has also contributed many research papers on agriculture which have appeared in various related journals. His books include one biography of Legendary Banker Dr Inderjit Singh of Punjab and Sind Bank, entitled ‘Vadde Nishane Vaddia Praptian. Being a devout and dedicated Sikh, he started along with others ‘Sukrit Trust’, Ludhiana wih missionary zeal. The said trust aimed at promoting spiritual, educational and professional excellence. For that purpose the Trust has been providing the young ones career guidance, skill development and training regarding professional courses. Sukrit Trust under his leadership encouraged Sehaj Path movement. Also the young ones were asked to memorize as many Banis (compositions from Sri Guru Granth) as possible. This Trust also published many booklets and pamphlets for increasing the knowledge about Sikh concepts, teachings and Sikh history. For his valuable services to Sikh religion, S. Sarabjeet Singh Renuka has been honoured by various organizations at different platforms. He is a great role-model as he motivates others to be true Sikhs by self example. His sweet words, his attitude appreciating others and his optimistic approach add to his stature as a Gursikh role-model.
